Garage Door Cable Repair in Los Angeles, CA

What a snapped garage door cable actually costs you

One cable lets go and the door hangs crooked on the other. Keep pressing the button and it wedges diagonally in the opening. The bottom section bows. The track kinks and rollers pop out. A door parked askew also leaves a gap at the slab. That gap is a security problem, not just a repair.

Lift cables are stranded galvanized steel. They anchor at the bottom bracket and wind up onto drums at the shaft. Failure almost always starts at the loop around that bottom pin. Water sits there. Sprinkler overspray wicks into the wood bottom rail on older sectional doors and keeps the fixture damp. Nearer the coast and in low-lying flood-prone tracts, salt and humidity pit the pin and the strands together.

You can check this yourself. Look at the last few inches above the bracket. Broken wires stand up like whiskers. Also look at the drum grooves. Santa Ana grit packs those grooves and shreds cable early.

Cables go in as a pair, never one. The bottom bracket carries full spring load, so tension comes off first. Then drums are re-clocked and both sides equalized so the door travels level. Original one-piece tilt-up slabs use different side hardware entirely.

What Happens After You Call

Call and tell me what the door is doing, or send a photo if it's easier. Most mornings I can be at your address inside 90 minutes, and I give you a real arrival time, not a half day window.

I look at the springs, cables, rollers and opener, then tell you the price out loud before a single tool comes off the truck. A broken torsion spring usually runs around 180 to 340 installed, and the look is free.

I do the repair that day, run the door up and down a few times with you watching, balance it, and sweep up the metal shavings. You pay the number I quoted, nothing added at the end.
